2005 ALS/NSCORT Summer Fellowship Program

A highlight of the ALS/NSCORT Center is the Summer Fellowship Program.
This program offers undergraduate students eight weeks of research experience
under the direction of an ALS/NSCORT researcher. Engineering and science
students, entering their Junior or Senior year in the fall 2005, will
be considered for this program. Underrepresented minority and female candidates
are especially encouraged to apply.
ALS/NSCORT
Purdue University, along with research partners at Howard and Alabama
A&M universities, were selected by NASA to establish a new NSCORT center
focusing on advanced life support. This cutting-edge research center will
support a program designed specifically to resolve the complex and crucial
requirements of sustained human survival with an interplanetary space-based
environment.
Research Opportunities
The ALS/NSCORT center's research team involves 16 Faculty members from
Purdue, 5 Faculty members from Alabama A&M and 3 Faculty members from
Howard University. Summer Fellowship applicants will indicate a preference
for a particular faculty member and NSCORT site. Fellowships will be awarded
according to faculty choice and project compatibility.
Financial Support
ALS/NSCORT will provide round trip transportation plus a $3600 stipend
for the eight week research opportunity. In addition, housing at the research
institution will be provided.
