The NSCORT Education and Outreach Program is designed
to engage audiences through concepts and technologies highlighted in the
NSCORT research program. The outreach program is composed of three thrust
areas. These areas are technical outreach (technology transfer, presentations
to industry, etc.), educational outreach (graduate, undergraduate, K-12),
and public outreach (museums, state fairs, etc.).
Several highlights of our outreach efforts are:
MarsBound! Interactive Game
Marsbound! Mission to the Red Planet is a complete stand-alone activity originating
at Arizona State University and adapted for the web by Purdue University. Click

Summer Fellowship Program
We are pleased to announce that seven undergraduate students
from Howard and Alabama A&M
University have been selected for our 2nd Annual Summer Fellowship
Program. Participants will spend eight weeks working with faculty mentors
from Purdue University, Howard, and Alabama A&M Univeristy. The program
will end with a Student Symposium held at Purdue University on August
2-3, 2004. The Symposium will include presentations
from the undergraduate fellows and NSCORT graduate students
from
all
our partner
universities.
Key Learning Community Project
The NSCORT has formed a partnership with a Key Learning Community in Indianapolis,
Indiana. The collaboration will focus on developing successful 9th-12th
grade outreach strategies for NSCORT. The overall goal of the project
is motivate students to pursue careers in science, technology, and engineering.
School Program
This pilot program will organize and nationally disseminate curriculum
for a standards/inquiry based after-school program focusing on the science
and engineering that is the basis of the ALS NSCORT research program.
